It is possible to spend all of your training time in a rural location, however most registrars will spend some time training in a large regional or city hospital during their Core Clinical Training time, and possibly during their Advanced Specialised Training, depending on the discipline chosen.

During Primary Rural and Remote Training there is also flexibility, but a minimum of twelve months must be in a rural setting.

Locations outside of Australia can also be considered for training and you can download our policy here.
